International Project Conference

31 May - 3 June 2017

High Tatras, Slovak Republic

The international project conference was held from 31st May to 3rd June, presenting the results of the project Green Solutions for Business and Industry. The venue for this conference was Grand Hotel Bellevue in the High Tatra Mountains, concurrently with the conference TRANSCOM 2017, which was organised by one of the project's partners - the University of Žilina. The intersection of both conferences was "green logistics". The concurrence of the two conferences enriched all the participants who strongly appreciated this. The GSBI conference was attended by more than 50 participants from the professional world from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Serbia.

The conference consisted of presentations of 14 topics presented in the form of posters. The papers were presented by their authors in morning and afternoon sections. The participants could learn not only about green solutions applied in the corporate sector, but also about the outputs of innovative students' solutions in this field. Students have contributed with their solutions of case studies during the individual summer schools held over the course of the project. The topics discussed included solutions for reducing emissions in logistics chains, use of alternative fuels in logistics, specific applications of modern logistics approaches in the automotive industry and the methodology of environmental performance measurement of suppliers. The high number of questions addressed to the authors proves the interest of the participants.

"The conference concluded three years of work on the project. The project was unique in terms of combining science, practice and learning with leading academics from European universities, experts from ŠKODA AUTO a.s. and students from countries around the world contributing to its success," adds Radim Lenort from ŠKODA AUTO University, the coordinator of the project.

The overall attendance at the conference and the interest of the participants were a reward and encouragement to the researcher. They have shown that green, environmentally friendly solutions remain a current and interesting issue, allowing us to keep finding new opportunities in future projects.
